If you’re a physician, PADCHEK® provides you the opportunity to test for the early signs of cardiovascular disease. PADCHEK® is designed to be a simple and non-intrusive addition to the facilities of Family Practitioners, Podiatrists, Internists, Surgeons, as well as Provider Groups and Health Plans. With PADCHEK® you will be able to calculate an Ankle Brachial Index and PVR (Pulse Volume Recording) in 9 minutes.
What is PADCHEK®
PADCHEK® is a clinically proven, non-invasive peripheral vascular testing device that measures Peripheral Artery Disease (P.A.D.). The PADCHEK® device has been cleared by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to calculate an Ankle Brachial Index (ABI).
How PADCHEK® works
The PADCHEK® device is an analytical apparatus that measures a person’s Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) and Pulse Volume Recording (PVR) by the attachment of blood pressure cuffs to the ankles and arm. Computerized oscillometry and proprietary algorithms then detect if the person is suffering from P.A.D.
Medical staff are trained by PADCHEK® experts and the proprietary software ensures accuracy of measurement. In many cases this removes the need for a cardio-specialist referral which can delay diagnosis and treatment.
Why PADCHEK®?
PADCHEK® is ideal for your medical practice because there is no capital investment for the equipment and expense is only incurred as each test is performed. PADCHEK® software guides you and your staff through the process ensuring accuracy and PADCHEK® tests can be performed by trained medical assistants (on-site training is available.) In many cases your patients can be tested and treated for P.A.D. by you, no longer requiring them to be referred to cardio-specialists.
Importance of testing for P.A.D.
P.A.D. is a disease affecting 1 out of 20 adults over 50 and a large percentage of these individuals have no knowledge or symptoms that P.A.D. is present.
Research shows that patients with Peripheral Artery Disease (P.A.D.) are four times more likely than the general population for risk of heart attack. PADCHEK® makes Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) and Pulse Volume Recording (PVR) testing of at-risk patients easy, efficient, and economical.
Risk factors include:
- Being over 50 years of age
- Smoking or used to smoke
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Personal or family history of heart disease or stroke
